Description
Derived from the right axilla lymph node of a 43 year old male with melanoma. COLO 839, COLO 858 and COLO 857 were all derived from the same 43 year-old male patient with malignant melanoma. This has been confirmed by STR profiling; COLO 853 also has an identical STR profile to the above cell lines though this cell line is not mentioned in the literature (Morse HG, Moore GE PMID 8402545, Easty DJ et al., PMID 7780963 and Maung K et al PMID 10597292).

Quality Control
COLO 853 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
